On Sunday 11th November at Hatfield Heath Sensei Colin Blencowe held his 1st club grading which was only a small affair but, as they say, "from small accorns mighty oaks do grow". So it was my pleasure to go over there and over look procedures.
Colin, who started Karate more than a few years ago because he wanted to encourage his son to keep going, has had a few problems over the years. An injury he recieved at work, causing him to have back and shoulder problems, means he has worked hard for Te-Ashi-Do Karate clubs and as the entertainments officer has organised quiz nights and christmas events which have all gone down well. So it was nice for him to hold a grading at his club. All of the children were very young (5yrs - 9yrs) and were a little bit nervous but got on with what they had been taught and showed good discipline not just in their basics but in their behaviour.
After the grading the parents all commented how pleased they were and how grateful they were to Colin for all the hard work that he had put in. I would like to second that, so thank you Colin for all your effort, and by the way they all passed which made them very happy.
