Once again, many thanks to Sensei Rob Curtis, Chief Instructor Ryoshin Karate Association, for his course on throwing techniques.

As with his previous course on groundwork, it was informal and well attended. Although aimed at adults, this course was also attended by some selected juniors providing a good range in weight and height for throwing partners.

The course started with learning various falling techniques to prevent injuries. Next Sensei Rob drew from his knowledge of judo, ju-jitsu and aikido to show several throwing techniques and the theory behind them. The crash mats provided were well appreciated especially when it came to supplex throws.

The winner-stays-on competition at the end was very competitive and tiring for the winners, however the bouts were highly amusing when the adults were mis-matched against the juniors. It was a very enjoyable course and when Sensei Rob said to expect a few aches the next day not everyone believed him - til the next day!
